Pease, Edward Allan

Edward Allan Pease (Indiana, Delta Xi ‘71) is a celebrated member of Pi Kappa Alpha, with a long career in politics and Fraternity service.

Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on May 22, 1951, the young Pease was active in the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 1965. He attended Indiana University Bloomington, where he was initiated into Delta Xi Chapter and graduated with a bachelor of arts in 1973. Pease earned his J.D. from IUPUI in 1977 and completed graduate work at Indiana State University from 1978–1984.

Pease began his legal and political career by clerking for the Attorney General of Indiana from 1974 to 1975. In 1980, he was elected to the Indiana Senate, where he served for 12 years (1980–1982 for the 37th District and 1982–1992 for the 39th District). During and after his time in state politics, Pease held several administrative positions at Indiana State University, including assistant to the president (1984–1993) and vice president for university advancement (1993–1997). In 2018, ISU named him chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Pease represented Indiana’s 7th District in the United State House of Representatives from 1997–2001. During his time in Congress, he sat on the House Judiciary and Transportation and Infrastructure Committees, helping to increase Indiana's share of transportation funding. After his retirement from Congress in 2001, Pease was named senior vice president of government relations at Rolls-Royce North America, Inc.

In addition to his political career, Pease has worked and volunteered for Pi Kappa Alpha and received several honors for his dedication. As an undergraduate in 1973, Pease earned the Powers Award, Pike’s top honor for collegiate members. From 1975–1976, he was on the Pike staff as the national director of alumni affairs. Pease also served as national vice president and Midwest regional president before being elected national president from 1988–1990. He volunteered at the local level, too: Pease is a longtime advisor for Theta Omicron Chapter at Indiana State University, for which he was named Pike’s National Advisor of the Year in 1983. At the 2016 Convention, Pike honored Pease with the Loyalty Award.

Pease has also represented Pi Kappa Alpha in the North American Interfraternity Conference, serving two terms as its president. He has received both the Silver (1990) and Gold (2006) Medals from the NIC.
