Perone Jr., Alfred Carl

Alfred C. Perone Jr. (Indiana State, Theta Omicron ‘78) has a long career of service to Pi Kappa Alpha, Indiana State University, and his community.

Perone was born and raised in Yonkers, New York, and moved to Indiana to attend college in the 1970s. He is one of the charter members of Theta Omicron Chapter at Indiana State University and has cited the opportunity to shape a fraternity as his reason for joining Pi Kappa Alpha. In a Shield & Diamond article from 2002, Perone also credits his Pike undergraduate experiences for influencing his career path and lifelong dedication to community service.

Perone graduated from ISU in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and went on to earn a master’s degree in student affairs in higher education in 1984. That same year, he began his long tenure with the Indiana State University Office of Student Affairs. He served as a residence hall director, assistant to the dean of student life, assistant director of Student Life Programs, and director of student activities and organizations. In July 2007, he was named Associate Dean of Students. He retired from ISU in 2021.

As an alumni, Perone has remained involved with Pike at the national and local levels. He served on advisory boards for Theta Omicron, Iota Delta, and Zeta Gamma Chapters, as well as an advisor for Theta Omicron. He was the Midwest Regional President from 2001–2007, and in 2010 was named Alumni Member of the Year.

Perone’s service extends to his community of Terre Haute, Indiana, where he has held many leadership positions, including chair of the Wabash Valley Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, director of the Wabash Valley Names Project Display, and president of Leadership Terre Haute. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Community Theater of Terre Haute and the Kiwanis Club.
