James Kissack served as a U.S. Army Second Lieutenant with the Combat Engineers, 327th Engineer Combat Battalion, 102nd Infantry Division during World War II. He was killed on December 26, 1944 in Germany due to a premature explosion of a land mine. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He is buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, Netherlands.
