Harold Grasse served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Captain with Company F, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division during World War II. A Paratrooper, he was wounded on May 11, 1945 on a mission at the Battle of Okinawa near Dakeshi Ridge, Ryukyu Islands, Okinawa. He died the following day from his injuries.
