Walter Davis served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade) in Fighter Squadron 103 in the Vietnam War. He was killed on February 5, 1963 when the aircraft he piloted crashed into the sea as a result of a catapult launching failure off the USS Forrestal.
