Morehead Jones, Jr. served in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant with the 255th Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division during World War II. A Machine Gun Platoon Leader, he was killed in action in France by enemy machine gun fire on January 29, 1945. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
