James Goldston served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a Sergeant in the 341st Bomb Squadron, 97th Bomb Group during World War II. A Turret Gunner, he went missing in action on August 24, 1944 in a B-17 bomber crash in Austria. His death was confirmed by the German government through the International Red Cross on June 1, 1945. He was awarded the Citation of Honor and the Purple Heart.
