Lacy McColloch served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander with the Escort Scouting Squadron 16 during World War II. He was killed in action on February 3, 1943 at Henderson Field, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
