John Dunlop served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, as a Second Lieutenant in the 757th Bomber Squadron, 459th Bomber Group, Heavy, in World War II. He was trained as a B-24 bombardier. He was killed on August 15, 1944 while on a combat mission to France. He was awarded the Purple Heart and is buried in Nettuno, Italy.
