Jerrold R. Scribner served in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant with the Infantry, C Company, 2nd Battalion, 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He was killed in action on June 16, 1952, as he was leading his patrol on a scouting mission and was ambushed by the Chinese near Kumwah, Korea. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
