Lyon Jr., LT Adrian Pride

Adrian Lyon, Jr. served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a First Lieutenant with the 364th Bomber Squadron, 305th Bomber Group, Heavy, 8th Army during World War II. The Co-Pilot of the B17-F "The Baby," he was killed in action on May 19, 1943 when his aircraft was shot down by enemy fighters while on a bombing mission over Kiel, Germany. The engineer, bombardier and navigator bailed out and were captured. The rest of the crew perished. Later, the plane was found on the ground, broken in two. Lieutenant Lyon was awarded the Purple Heart.
