Charles Coggeshall served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the 200th Coast Artillery Corps, 515th Coast Artillery Regiment (AntiAircraft), Battery B during World War II. He was captured at Bataan in the Philippines and taken as a prisoner of war. He died on November 7, 1942 from starvation and beri beri in the Japanese prison camp at Cabanatuan City, Philippines.
