John A. Vogt served in the U.S. Air Force as a Captain with the 50th Tactical Airlift Squadron during the Vietnam War. An instructor pilot on C-130 Hercules (#62-1800), he was killed on December 15, 1969, when his plane crashed due to a propeller reversal in flight while training in hazardous pick-ups and drops at low altitude.
