Lawrence Dart served in the U.S. Army as a Specialist 4 in the C Company, 65th Engineer Battalion, 25th Infantry Division in the Vietnam War. His tour began on June 6, 1969. On October 31, 1969, he sustained wounds from an explosive device in Hua Nghia, South Vietnam. He died of those wounds on November 7, 1969. He was awarded with the following: Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal (Merit), Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
