Nicholas Olivier served in the U.S. Army, Louisiana National Guard as a Staff Sergeant with C Company, 3rd Battalion, 256th Brigade Combat Team in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was killed in action on February 23, 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was conducting a ground patrol in Baghdad, Iraq. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
