Eugene Henderson served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant in the 27th Replacement Draft, Service Troops, 5th Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force during World War II. He was killed on March 4, 1945 at Volcano Islands, Iwo Jima, Japan.
