Thomas McCann served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant in the Fighting Squadron VF-45, operating from the USS San Jacinto during World War II. He went missing in action when his F6F-5 Hellcat was shot down over Luzon. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines.
