Victor L. Vogel served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a First Lieutenant with the 352nd Fighter Squadron, 353rd Fighter Group during World War II. The pilot of a Republic P-47D Thunderbolt (#4-7904), he was killed in action on January 11, 1944, over the North Sea returning from mission in Germany on January 11, 1944. He was awarded an Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart.
