Wallace, Lt. Cdr. Michael Walter

Michael W. Wallace served in the U.S. Navy, Lieutenant Commander with Detachment 14, Light Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron 63, Carrier Air Wing 19 aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S Ticonderoga (CVA-14) during the Vietnam War. He was killed on March 28, 1968, while on a bombing/photographic mission 15 miles west of Khe San, South Vietnam, when his aircraft crashed in Savannakhet Province, Laos. His remains were returned to the United States on December 16, 1988, and identified on March 13, 1989. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
