Joseph A. Ricci served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant with the 576th Bomb Squadron, 392nd Bomb Group during World War II. He died on May 29, 1944, when the B-24 he was co-piloting was shot down while on a mission to bomb the oil refineries at Politz, Germany.
