Ralph A. Wilmot served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a Captain with the 634th Anti-Artillery (AAA AW) Battalion, 1st Army during World War II. He was captured by the Germans during the Ardennes Offensive. While a prisoner, he was killed during an air raid on Stalag Luft 12 prison in Prussia. His name appears on the Tablets of the Missing at Luxembourg American Cemetery. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star Medal, American Campaign Medal, European Campaign Medal with Three Battle Stars, Army Good Conduct MedalĀ and the WWII Victory Medal.
