Charles M. Sheldon served in the U.S. Army as a Captain with the Special Detachment 5891, Headquarters Military Assistance Command Advisors during the Vietnam War. He was killed in action on April 8, 1966, in South Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
