Jeff Hooker, Jr. served in the.U.S. Army Air Forces as a First Lieutenant in the 35th Fighter Squadron, 8th Fighter Group during World War II. He went missing in action on May 4, 1942 while on a mission over the 7-Mile Airdrome, Port Moresby, Papua, New Guinea. He was declared dead by the U.S. Government on December 14, 1945. He is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
