George Templeton served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant with the 6th U.S. Volunteer Infantry during the Spanish American War. He contracted typhoid fever in the Army and received his discharge, but died on August 18, 1909. S&D December 1898 reported that Templeton had received a discharge on account of a protracted case of fever, and has again entered the University. He died 11 years later on August 18, 1909. He has been removed from Gold Star status.
