Luther Baldwin served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He was on board a Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter that disappeared in a storm on March 22, 1957 over the North Pacific Ocean about 200 miles southeast of Tokyo, Japan. At the time of the fatal flight, Lieutenant Baldwin was en route from Travis Air Force Base to Tokyo.
