McCloskey Jr., SGT Bernard Frank

Bernard McCloskey served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Sergeant with the 777th Bomber Squadron, 464th Bomber Group, Heavy during World War II. A Radio Operator on the B-24G Liberator "Maiden USA" (#42-78392), he was declared missing in action on July 22, 1944 when his B-24 was hit by enemy anti-aircraft fire over Italy and crashed into the Adriatic Sea. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
