Gordon O. Walsh served in the U.S. Army as a Captain with the 335th Transportation Co., 14th Transportation Battalion, 34th GS Group, 1st Logistical Command during the Vietnam War. A veteran of the Korean War, he died on April 16, 1967, when the UH-1D Huey helicopter he piloted lost control moments after take-off, exploded and crashed into the China Sea offshore of South Vietnam. He was awarded the Commendation Medal and Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
