Fabius Clements, Jr served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant in the 168th Infantry Regiment, Company H, 34th Division in World War II. He was killed in action on February 2, 1943 somewhere in Northern Africa; the government said they had only a meager account of the casualty. Lieutenant Clements was awarded two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star and Silver Star medals and was decorated by General Eisenhower.
