Jeffrey Kaylor served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant in the 3rd Infantry, 1st Battalion, 39th Field Artillery, Battery C during the Iraq War. He was killed in action on April 7, 2003 when a grenade hit his Humvee while he was leading his platoon in Iraq. He was awarded the Army Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal and posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Lieutenant Kaylor is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
