Murphy, LT Harold George

Harold G. Murphy served the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and Counter Intelligence Agent with Headquarters Company, II Corps, 1st Armored Division, Combat Command A.  Lt. Murphy served in the Counter Intelligence Corps and was "up front" in Kasserine, Tunisia when he was declared missing in action in Tunisia, Africa on February 14, 1943. Trapped by German tanks during their Kasserine breakthrough, Lt. Murphy was last seen still fighting by retreating units. It was more than two years before it was learned that he had been killed February 14, 1943.  He received the following decorations:  Silver Star, Purple Heart
