Steve Prefontaine rounds a turn in the final lap of his last race at Hayward Field, where he clocked 13:23.8, less than five hours before he died in a car accident. He wears a top bearing the word "Noridinitalia," for a track club in Northern Italy, which he wore when in Europe and apparently donned as a gesture of fellowship towards visiting Finnish athletes.
