Thomas Green Receiving Legion of Merit Photograph, 1940s

Colonel Thomas C. Green, of the 39th Signal Corps Engineers, receives the Legion of Merit from Major General John P. Lucas. Green received the honor for his marked foresight in the efficient employment of his battalion of engineers in repairing demolitions and his own extensive personal reconnaissance in areas not cleared of mines, often under artillery and small arms fires, which made possible the close support of the artillery during the Sicilian campaign.
