Bressem Holtzchue served in the U.S. Army as a Captain with the 26th Division during World War II. A Field Artillery Officer, and later Staff Officer, he was brought to Walter Reed Hospital from Luxembourg, where he died on September 25, 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the European Theater ribbon with three battle stars.
