Daniel Hackett served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal E-4 with the B Battery, 1st Battalion, 77th Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division, during the Vietnam War. A Radio Operator, he was killed in action on June 20, 1969 while serving as a Radio Operator at Landing Zone Ike outpost on the Cambodian Border. He was promoted posthumously and received a Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign Medals.
