William Fant served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Lieutenant in the 11th Fighter Squadron, 343rd Fighter Group during World War II. A fighter pilot, he was killed in action on March 31, 1943 in the Aleutian Islands on a mission to identify enemy plane.
