Edward Ball served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II. A pilot, he was reported as missing in action over Schweinfurt, Germany since October 14, 1943 and officially reported as dead by the War Department. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and a letter of appreciation from President Roosevelt, posthumously.
