Richard Hoag served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant in the Troop Carrier Squadron during World War II. An English Horsa Glider pilot, he was killed in action on June 6, 1944 on D-Day, during the Operation Neptune, the airborne phase of the Operation Overlord.
