Henry Banks served as a Captain and Commanding Officer in Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in the Vietnam War. He was killed in hostile fire on July 14, 1968, in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. He died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the head from a massive explosion. He had served for eight years as a Marine Corps Officer.
