Patrick Earle served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant as Commander of Company M, 117th Infantry, 90th Division in World War I. A shell hit near Lieutenant Earle while he rode on a motorcycle en route to the front lines in France. He died from his wounds on October 7, 1918.
