Charles Davis served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant in the 754th Bomb Squadron, 8th Air Squadron during World War II. Lieutenant Davis died on June 17, 1944, when the B-24 aircraft in which he was navigator was shot down after a bombing mission by German 88 mm anti-aircraft flak over Caen, France. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
