Paul Eklund served in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant in Company A, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division in the Vietnam War. An Executive Officer, he was killed in action while engaged in a search-and-destroy mission near Bien Hoa, Vietnam on November 11, 1965. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and SIlver Star.
