LT Robert Douglass Dawkins Jr.

Robert Dawkins served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a First Lieutenant in the 424th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, Heavy, in World War II. The pilot of a B-24 Liberator (44-41381) "Miss Red Dauber", he was killed in action on November 8, 1944 when his aircraft was shot down by Japanese fighter planes on Negros Island, Philippines. He was awarded the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and a Purple Heart.
