Charles Gerould Jr. served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant in the 319th Fighter Squadron, 325th Fighter Group during World War II. He died on June 23, 1945 when his airplane, a P-51 B #43-24814, collided with another during a training flight near Rimini, Italy.
