1LT William Oleen Bunderson

William Bunderson served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a First Lieutenant with the 98th Bomb Group Heavy, 343rd Bombardment Squadron during World War II. He had flown 28 missions over Italy. He was killed on December 23, 1944 when the transport plane on which he was a passenger crashed in bad weather on Mount Vulture, two miles from the town of Rionero, Italy. Lt. Bunderson was a B-24 bomber pilot and was one of several men being ferried from airfield to another.
