Julian Baum served as an Ensign in the United States Navy during World War II. He died on August 13, 1947 when the Navy Corsair he was piloting plunged into Currituck Sound near Norfolk, Virginia. Ensign Baum was a member of the flight squadron from the aircraft carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt.
