George Hazlett served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Major and a Flight and Squad Commander in the 16th Pursuit "Flying Tigers" Squadron during World War II. He died on August 6, 1943 in a crash while training pilots in Karachi, India. During the period from July 26, 1942 to January 16, 1943, over enemy occupied China, Burma and Indo-China, he took part in more than 25 missions as a flight and squad commander.
