Glenmore Ash served in the US Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant and pilot in the 422 Army Air Force Bomb Squadron in World War II. He was killed in his first mission when his B-17 bomber was shot down over Berlin during America's first daylight mission in World War II, on September 27, 1943.
