LT Thomas J. Galvin

Thomas Galvin served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade) in the 132rd Bomb Squadron during World War II. A Naval Aviator and Bomber Pilot, he was killed when his PV-1 crashed near Naples, Italy on October 16, 1944. He had volunteered for an expedition around Gardenia in the Mediterranean and had completed 44 missions. He had earned his wings at Jackson, Florida on August 27, 1942. He received the following awards: Purple Heart Medal, Pilot Wings, American Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, European Campaign Medal with 4 Battle Stars.
