Rudolph Bostelman served as major in the Judge Advocate General's Corps in the U.S. Army Air Force, Headquarters Squadron, 11th Air Force on the Island of Udak in the Aleutians during World War II. On September 18, 1944, when returning to the United States, the C-47 plane in which he was a passenger crashed on Mt. Deception, Alaska near Mt. McKinley [now Denali]. He is memorialized in the Courts of the Missing of the Honolulu Memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii.
