Jeffrey Green served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant in C Company, 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. An Infantry Unit Commander, he was killed in action on February 20, 1968 while on a search-and-destroy operation to clear the An My, Lai Khe, and Phu Loi areas in South Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star Medal for bravery and the Silver Star Medal for gallantry beyond the call of duty, Purple Heart, National Defense, Vietnam Service with Bronze Star and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
